Nordic start-ups rocking SLUSH in Helsinki

Approaching the end of the year it’s time to take stock of 2018’s adventures. SLUSH in Helsinki surely makes the cut! Let’s recap what our Nordic delegation got to experience at the world’s leading start-up event.

On of the focal points of the two-day event was the The Climate Impact Battle semi-final that took place on 4 December at the Sofia Future Farm. An evening of quick fire pitching from our investor-ready cleantech teams, each vying for one of six spots on stage at the grand finale the following day.

The start-ups have been invited to pitch at the Climate Impact Battle happening at SLUSH‘s Valo venue on 5 December before a panel consisting of top tier cleantech and impact investors as well as industry experts. 20,000 guests came for the start-up scene in Helsinki, Finland and EIT Climate-KIC presented 30 of the most promising companies from our cleantech start-up accelerator—the world’s largest of its kind. CarbonCloud, Modvion, Matter, Kliffa, Meshcrafts did a fantastic job representing the Nordics!

“If you look at the massive wealth we have in pension it doesn’t take a lot to actually activate enough funding to reach all Sustainable Development Goals, and completely solve financing the financing need we have for combatting climate change.”

“What we have seen is that the guest satisfaction goes up in all the restaurant we have done this, which is awesome, I believe. So we kind of help restaurants to move into the right direction.”

Our Nordic delegation concluded the event with the valuable connections, inspirational sessions and a great deal of fun! This year, the on-stage and off-stage program was all out to give us the best, hands-on advice by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. This year, over 3,100 start-ups, 1,800 investors, and 650 journalists from over 130 countries gathered at SLUSH to kick it with like-minded tech-heads while experiencing the phenomenal atmosphere.
