Spring arrivals of the Nordic Accelerator

On 5-6 March we hosted our biannual event the Nordic Accelerator intake boot camp in Sweden. Twenty founders gathered in Malmö to take part in a series of thought-provoking workshops and finally pitched to qualify into the first stage of our Accelerator programme.

Five workshops and twenty pitches later, our panel and team has reached the final decision. The selection process was enriched by insights from Minc Incubator, Cleantech Scandinavia, Lund Innovation, 6AM Accelerator, Novozymes, Emerging and SustainableInsight.

After a thorough assessment, our evaluators went the extra mile by sharing their extended thoughts on how founders could best scale their businesses. Finally, ten start-ups were selected to enter Stage I of the Nordic Accelerator. Get a taste of the shortlisted businesses below.

The winners are…

  • Eneryield develops machine learning methods for intelligent analytics of power quality
  • Future Closets AB provides the easiest way to adopt second-hand clothes and reduce your closet’s footprint
  • GreenStock hosts a digital infrastructure which enables the reuse of building materials and inventory
  • Helios Innovations develops a new desaliation method to make heavy industries self-sustaining in their water usage
  • Lupinta AB replaces imported soy products with environmentally friendly and locally farmed lupin products
  • Manna Insect Oy converts bio-waste into valuable protein and bio-oil using black soldier fly larvae
  • Nature Preserve re-engineers food waste into shelf-stable ingredients
  • Ocean Oasis provides mobile fresh water by enabling sustainable desalination of seawater using wave power
  • Snömoln i Norden AB cultivates a data-driven marketplace between buyers and suppliers within the food industry
  • Tebrito upcycles low value biomass into high-quality protein in a circular and sustainable way

It takes a village

These boot camps provide an excellent learning experience not only to the founders, but to our entire team. Every time, we gain new insights about best practices to support cleantech heroes, which we can’t wait to implement in the editions to come.

By witnessing entrepreneurs forging connections and cross pollinating each other’s ideas it becomes clear that lasting positive change rarely comes down to a single person. Rather, to a community of change makers rolling the ball forward for a cleaner tomorrow.

”When you put 20 impact-driven start-up founders together in a room for 25 hours, magic happens. Not only when making very valuable contacts and future collaborations, but also for the motivation, knowledge and experience sharing. I learned that companies within very different industries can help each other in several ways – in the end, we all are striving towards the same goal: to save the planet. And no one can do it alone.”

– Mikaela Larsell Ayesa, Future Closets AB

We would like to extend our best wishes to the founders of Allihop, Aquammodate, FooIn AB, Hurricane Unwinder, Kausal Ltd, Klimate ApS, Solar4Schools, SØULD and Völur for participating in the boot camp and showing interest in climate innovation. We hope to stay in touch and see you at a later point in your business development!

Thanks to all for making the 5th edition of the Accelerator Stage I intake boot camp a success. For more impressions, have a look at the photos from these 25 hours in Malmö.
