Open Innovation Day on power peak shaving in Malmö

As partners in the EU Interreg-project Smart Cities Accelerator, The City of Malmö and E.ON launched a joint Open Innovation Call on Exploring power peak shaving as an enabler for future resilient neighbourhoods earlier this autumn. The four finalists have been chosen, and The Smart Cities Accelerator and EIT Climate-KIC now invite you to an Open Innovation Day in Malmö, Sweden on 5 December for joint discussions on the theme and for the crowning of the winner.

In cities or neighbourhoods with inflexible or insufficient power grid and lack of enough locally produced energy sources, power peaks can have unwanted effects for people living and companies operating there. The aim of this call was therefore to identify various ways to shave power peaks at a local city district level.

The finalists

The four best solutions are now elected for the finale in Malmö where they in front of the organisers, an expert jury and the audience of interested stakeholders will pitch their solutions to the call. The finalists are:

  • Finalist # 1: Sege Park peak shaving by batteries; Christoph Riekert, Germany
  • Finalist # 2: WE power; Ivan Kalc, EN-EF concept, Serbia
  • Finalist # 3: Tempiro Peak Load Shaving with Smart Fuses; Magnus Lindström, Tempiro, Sweden
  • Finalist # 4: FlexPower; Addis Moiteaux, Power2U AB, Sweden

As this is a subject of relevance for many stakeholders, we hereby invite people and organizations interested in the theme to the Open Innovation Day in order to enhance and foster stronger dialogue, collaboration and potential solutions.

By participating, you will have the opportunity to talk to everyone present and to comment on the four pitches, as we see this as an opportunity to co-create on this relevant challenge for many cities and regions.

Interested in participating?

The Open Innovation Day will take place on

  • Date and time: 5 December 2019, from 9.30 – 12.30 at
  • Venue: Studio, Nordenskiöldsgatan 24, Malmö, Sweden.

Registration is needed for the planning of the event. For more information and registration, please contact Jakob Stolt, EIT Climate-KIC.
