We support climate entrepreneurs with equity free funding, training and a global network, accelerating their business with improved success rates and bigger impact. 

Our Nordic Accelerator programme offers a rapid development of a start-up for maximum business potential and climate impact. In three stages, our 18-month programme brings climate entrepreneurs the knowledge, resources, tools and the mentoring they need to build a successful company.

Accelerator Program Outline

Stage 1: Business Model Development

The first, 4 month-long stage with funding up to 10,000€ helps early-stage start-ups refine and develop their specific unique selling point and business model. The first prototypes can be tested to obtain industry feedback. We offer a two-day boot camp, one-on-one mentoring, workshops and exposure to our network and events. Are you ready to get going?

Stage 2: Validation & Customer Acquisition

In the second, 4 month-long stage with additional funding up to 25,000€, start-ups move with a well-formulated business model to real customers. They dial in on solving a real problem by talking to customers and continuously developing their business plans. They create a mock up investor presentation and rethink their market of choice. This stage includes support from experts, mentors during workshops and various activities.

Stage 3: Investment Readiness

The final, 6-9 month-long stage with additional funding up to 40,000€, prepares businesses for a future of investment rounds and scaling. We coach start-ups for negotiations and expose them to our network of investors and partners. Our start-ups are ready to pitch their business cases to investors or launch it to customers. We offer workshops on valuation, investor strategy, financial structuring, deal making and strategic partnering.

Nordic Bootcamps & Master Classes

Our quarterly bootcamps are held at our Nordic locations: Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Oslo and Malmö. Each bootcamp have a specific theme that are changing according to the need, these two-day camps are also perfect venues for start-ups to network, exchange experiences, and find new inspiration. Each stage includes two bootcamps.

A master class is a two-day workshop covering a specific topic. Our aim is to offer 6-8 master classes each year. They are free to attend for our start-ups and participation is usually on a first-come-first-served basis. Master classes are held at EIT Climate-KIC locations all over Europe.

We are working along four impact areas to produce the outcomes and impacts needed to avoid a dangerous climate change, consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals set in 2015. Your application must fall under one of these areas. Learn more about how we make an impact here!

Requirements 

  • Ready for demonstration (our programme does not fund research)
  • <18 months to first major customer and/or investor
  • Scalable solution
  • Potential high climate impact or significant climate adaptation
  • Your company must be incorporated before entering the programme
  • A dedicated team of minimum 2 persons
  • Based in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden

You must report on results and spending according to the original plan at the end of each stage Significant deviations from the original plan have to be pre-approved by Climate-KIC Nordic. We require reporting on: turnover financing attracted (investment and loans), number of patents filed, number of jobs created and awards won. If you are applying for next stage in the programme, then this reporting will be part of the new application.

Your path into our Nordic Accelerator starts with an online application. Convince our experts and we will invite you to an on-boarding bootcamp, where you will pitch your business and answer questions from a jury made up of researchers, investors and experts from inside and outside of EIT Climate-KIC.

You need a breakthrough idea with a substantial impact on climate change.  You need to be extremely motivated, because being a start-up is hard work. We expect your full commitment. Convinced and dedicated to achieve global success? Then we would love to hear from you.

Applications open every 6 months with the actual programme starting at the beginning of April and October. Twenty startups are invited to the two day-long on-boarding bootcamp. Ten startups make it into the first stage of our Accelerator programme each round.
