At the nexus of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and (Bio)technology, EIT Climate-KIC Nordic, Novozymes and its open innovation platform HelloScience today outlined efforts to address global climate and sustainability challenges.
Action through Innovation
“A decarbonised, sustainable economy presents a wealth of opportunities for business and society. In recent years, many Corporates have increasingly understood this and have begun to embrace opportunities to work with entrepreneurs and innovators”, says Susanne Pedersen, Director at EIT Climate-KIC Nordic, the Regional Hub for the European knowledge and innovation community. “As part of our role to help them strengthen and accelerate their efforts, companies like Novozymes and open platforms like HelloScience have a potentially important role to play. EIT Climate-KIC Nordic is pleased to be able to explore this synergy”, she added.
Shared Values, Shared Ambition
“Our organisations are both strongly committed to driving innovation that supports sustainable societies and new economic growth” says Daniel Cardinali, Novozymes Head of Innovation. “Already HelloScience has helped identify both established and new innovators focused on solving challenges in developed and emerging markets. These including impact start-ups such as SolarSack, which has also attracted early support from EIT Climate-KIC Nordic, through to existing entrepreneurs such as NZ Filtration, working alongside established Corporates like Grundfos. “Working with EIT Climate-KIC Nordic we will be able to expand our own offering more directly to the Nordic Climate and Sustainability focused Start-Up community”, said Daniel.
Local Focus, Global Scope
“We want to focus our impact and attention on where problems are most urgent and solutions can best fit”, says Alexander Nielsen, Novozymes Business Innovation. “The Nordic region has developed some great ideas but we need to listen, learn and understand these in a real-world context”. To facilitate that process, both organizations will support HelloScience Live Lab: Bangalore, a collaboration event in Bangalore, over 27-28 February, alongside existing HelloScience partner Grundfos. The event will be hosted by Jaaga, a makerspace for start-ups that builds and supports collaborative communities of creatives, entrepreneurs and enterprises for a better future.
Future Forward – Faster
As part of our conversations together we believe the EIT Climate-KIC Nordic’s start-up community can benefit from access to the expertise and network of HelloScience and Novozymes.
Mikkel Trym, Nordic Entrepreneurship Lead at EIT Climate-KIC.
“We look forward to further exploring synergies to strengthen the offer and support for our community of scalable high-impact start-ups across Europe, he continued”.
